Coconut Oil: The All-Purpose Beauty Product?

Today I want to talk about coconut oil! I know I’m late to the party when it comes to the obsession with coconut oil, but I’ve been absolutely loving coconut oil as of several months ago, and I’ve been using it for just about everything beauty related! Today I thought I would discuss some of the ways that I’ve been using coconut oil in my beauty routine, and a few other ways that I’m interested in using it.

I’ve been primarily using coconut oil as a makeup remover. It’s super easy to use and it takes off all of my makeup! The oil really eats away all of my makeup. I just take a quarter-sized amount and rub it all over my face — I try to really buffer it into my skin — then I wet a wash cloth with warm water and use it to wipe most of the coconut oil off of my face. Then I just use my regular face cleanser and go about my skin care routine!

I’ve also, on occasion, been using coconut oil as a bit of a body moisturizer — particularly on extra dry areas, likes elbows and knees. I find it a bit too heavy to use as a face moisturizer, but it’s great to use as a body moisturizer. It actually does a really good job of leaving my skin nice and soft and it smells totally amazing!

I also like to use coconut oil as a makeup brush cleanser. It really does an excellent job of getting into my makeup brushes and cleaning them really well. I just put a bit of coconut oil on a paper towel and then I just swirl my makeup brushes around until all the built up makeup is removed; then I just rinse them!

Sometimes, I also use coconut oil as a bit of lip moisturizer. I mostly just do this after I’ve used it to remove my makeup and cleansed my skin. It makes my lips silky smooth and it smells and feels amazing. I don’t find the coconut oil stays on my lips too long, but it’s still a good and inexpensive way to moisturize lips!

So, those are the ways that I’ve typically been using coconut oil in my beauty routine. I’ve read that there are so many uses for it, but some other ways that I’d be interested in using coconut oil are:

I’ve heard coconut oil is a good ingredient to use in a homemade exfoliant. I might try mixing this with a bit of sugar and try exfoliating my skin!

I’ve also heard that coconut oil is really useful as a leave-in conditioner. I obviously don’t want to use too much because I don’t want my hair to look oily, but I think if I take a small amount of it and run it through damp hair, it might help make my hair look extra shiny and soft!

Coconut oil is a great moisturizer overall, so I think it would definitely make a good cuticle oil! I might try that out sometime soon too!

And that’s it! Do you use coconut oil in your beauty routine?

  1. I love to use it as a face moisturiser. I put a thin layer in and leave it for about 5 minutes. Then I lightly wipe it off with a wet make up remover pad. I wet it with cold water and not warm. Leaves my skin feeling very soft. I also use it to remove make-up
