My Favourite Thrift Store Finds 2.0!

A little over a year ago, I wrote a blog post about some of my favourite thrift store finds. Today, I thought it would be fun to share some more of my favourite thrift store finds! Thrift store shopping is one of my favourite things to do. My Grandma and I have been to most of the thrift stores in our city and we’ve found great stuff at various times in all of them! Most of the time, when I thrift shop, I’ll buy clothes or movies because that’s what I love. But, I’ve also found some more awesome stuff that I adore! Here are some more of my favourite thrift store finds!

The first item that I’m excited to share with you is this canvas art of Vincent Van Gogh’s painting Sunflowers (Munich version, I believe)! Van Gogh is one of my favourite artists, and this painting is one of my favourite pieces! I also really love The Starry Night, so hopefully I’ll find that some day too! But, I was so excited when I found this piece of art! It’s so gorgeous and it makes me really happy looking at it! It’s definitely something that I treasure! Oh, and the fact that I got it for $9.99 is amazing!

A few years ago, I started collecting teacup and saucer sets from the thrift store. It started with me buying one set (I don’t remember which one now), and then I just kept buying ones that liked! I don’t have too many at the moment, but each piece, I absolutely love! I don’t use them too often either – I usually just use a regular mug when I drink tea — but I just love having a collection of them! I haven’t seen any in the thrift store that I really like recently, but I’m sure I’ll come across something eventually! I think I paid between $3.99 and $4.99 per set!

My teacup collection so far! I love how different, but how equally fancy, they are!

I also really love this set of 4 fancy glasses. I love the little crystal detail on the stem! I picked these up, I’d say, a year ago for under $1 a piece! I’m not sure what type of beverage is meant to go in these glasses (wine, I presume …I don’t drink alcohol), but I love to occasionally feel fancy, so sometimes I’ll pull one of these out and drink something out of it just for the heck of it! They’re especially fun to use around the holidays!  However, I mostly just love the look of these glasses!

Another thing that I wanted to include in my favourite thrift store finds list is my movie collection. I love collecting movies, and my collection has really expanded in recent years thanks to thrift stores. Right now, I have a growing collection of about 400 movies, most of which have come from various thrift stores. Each thrifted movie that I buy ranges in price from $0.99 to $2.99, so it’s a relatively inexpensive way to grow a movie collection, especially compared to buying each movie new! I love movies, and I love that I can create the movie collection that I want without breaking the bank!

Some of my favourite thrifted movie finds — Bridget Jones’s Diary, Crossroads, Erin Brockovich, and Thelma & Louise!

And the last thing that I was going to feature today, but unfortunately broke while trying to take pictures, is this fancy glass/mirror vase-type thing. Before breaking it, I was using it to hold some of my everyday products, like some makeup brushes, mascara, cc cream, etc.  I got it about a year ago for around $0.99, I believe, at my local thrift store.  I love little décor pieces like this, so I’m definitely going to miss this piece, but I guess the good thing about shopping in thrift stores is maybe I’ll be able to find another one!

It’s so sad that it broke, but it had a good run!

And that’s it for today! Maybe in a few months I’ll share some more of my favourite thrift store finds, and turn this into a bit of a series!

Do you enjoy thrift store shopping? What’s the best thing you’ve found?

  1. OMG! I love Crossroads…I know it’s terribly cheesy but it takes me back to my childhood and I absolutely adore it! Also, those fancy glasses are so beautiful and they look so great on that tray! Thanks for sharing! xo
