Maison Jacynthe | Makeup Review

Last month, I had the opportunity to try some makeup products from Maison Jacynthe, a Canadian, cruelty-free cosmetic line created by actress and producer, Jacynthe René.  Maison Jacynthe reached out to me and they sent me three makeup items to test out — a lip stick, an eye shadow, and a nail polish.  Today I thought I’d share my thoughts on them with you.

I had never heard of Maison Jacynthe until they contacted me, so I didn’t know what to expect when I agreed to try some products.  But, I have to say, I was quite impressed!  Here are my thoughts on each of the three products I recieved!

The first of the three Maison Jacynthe products I received is a lipstick in the shade 09*.  It’s a gorgeous vibrant berry colour that is incredibly creamy and pigmented. I find this lipstick to be fairly long-wearing — I easily went several hours with no touch ups — and non-drying. I also really like the scent of this lipstick; it’s the scent of goji, which reminds me of a raspberry lip balm!  Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that the lipstick tube is awesome.  Not only does it look cool, it also snaps closed so there’s no need to worry about the lid coming off!

Right now, Maison Jacynthe offers 15 lipstick shades, which each retail for $33 CAD. These lipsticks are formulated with candelilla wax, which gives them their creamy texture and prevents dry lips; and abyssinian oil, which helps to create a vibrant colour and long-lasting effect. These lipsticks are also made with 93-100% natural ingredients.

The next item that Maison Jacynthe sent me is an eye shadow in the shade 09*, which is a really nice plum colour. This shade, I believe, is a matte colour.  Even though it appears to have some shimmer in my pictures, it definitely applies matte. This eye shadow is very soft, quite pigmented, and is pretty easy to work with. I adore the colour; it’s definitely right up my alley!

Currently, there are 15 eye shadow shades in the Mason Jacynthe makeup collection, which each retail for $22 CAD. The collection is made up of 5 matte and 10 satin finish colours.

The colour in the picture appears to be a deep/grape purple. For some reason, I just could not get the true colour to translate on camera. Sorry about that!
This swatch is a pretty accurate representation of the eye shadow colour.

And the third and final product sent to me is a nail polish in the shade Taormina*, a beautiful mauve taupe colour! I absolutely love this polish! It’s applies super opaque — completely opaque in two coats — and it glides on to my nails beautifully. As much as I love the colour and the texture, what I really love, though, is that most of the nail polishes from Maison Jacynthe are free of formalin, formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, parabens, xylene, camphor, styrene, benzophenone, and rosen (Manarola contains rosin).

Maison Jacinthe offers 12 nail polish shades, which retail for $14 CAD each!

I will definitely be featuring this polish in an upcoming Mani Monday!

I love the size of the brush and I also really like how the tip of the brush is curved.

I love the products that I received and I also really love that Maison Jacynthe is PETA-Certified and completely cruelty-free.  I definitely recommend checking out their products!
